Participation Guidelines

To participate, submit dance video-recording of a self-choreographed dance solo, duet or trio.

The participating choreographer can either perform in the work or be outside of it.

Multiple choreographers are allowed, but the number of choreographers cannot exceed the number of dancers in the item.

Awards are given to the choreographer(s) of the item.

The Workshop in the Final Round is reserved for the choreographer(s) of the item.

Every participant may register in all 3 categories, with 1 video submission per category.

All video submissions must show the dancers and the dance style clearly.

All video submissions can be filmed in any safe space like, but not limited to, the dance studio, as long as we have a clear view of your movement and your choreography.

Shortlisted participants will be notified swiftly. They will have the opportunity undergo workshops by professionals to deepen in their dance composition skills. Their work may also be shown at the IAF Gala or other platforms.
Awards
Attire

All participants should wear costumes that are appropriate to the genre, serve the choreography and which allow for ease of movement.

The costumes must also allow the judges to see movements clearly. In the absence of ready costumes, leotards, footless tights, leggings, dance pants and T-shirts.

Light make-up is preferred but not essential. Hair must be kept neat and must complement the dance presented.

Shoes appropriate to the dance performed are all acceptable. Bare feet are acceptable.
Safety Considerations

CHOREOBLAST values originality, creativity, and innovation. However, safe dancing is paramount.

Props are not essential. If used, these must be safely and suitably used. If the work is chosen for a live, in-person showcase, please refer to the requirements below:

IAF allows props that can be carried by one person (only for the in-person competition)

No sand, liquid, leaves, flowers, confetti, powder as well as smoke or haze effects may be used in any performance in a way that could impact dancer safety and/or impede the IAF proceedings.

All video submissions should feature modest costumes, appropriate themes, and movements that maintain a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. We will not accept suggestive themes or lewd content, or content that is racially or religiously insensitive or offensive.

To ensure safety and enable all performances are clearly visible, there must be no live flame, pyrotechnics, smoke, or haze effects.
Further Advice on Filming
• Each video submission must be in one single take, with the face and full-body view at all times.
• Ensure that the spot you choose to record your performance provides enough safe space for you to move.
Submission of videos

IAF will send a Dropbox link where candidates will be required to submit their videos in ‘.MP4’ format.

Participants residing in China Mainland and without the access to Dropbox, please upload the video to Baidu Wangpan and then email us the download link.

Video resolution: 1080p, not exceeding 500 MB.
-
The video file should carry your registration number.
-
Candidates participating in more than one category are required to submit each video file separately.

Ensure there is good lighting that shows the dancer’s face.

The organisers will not be responsible for videoclips that fail to download due to faulty or wrong links. Videoclips with poor onscreen resolution will be rejected.
